February 14th: Costa Rica Day 1

Well, I guess this is a bit of a tricky title since I never got to Costa Rica on Feb 14th, but still, that's what it is called. I had to fly to Calgary first because originally we thought that you would have had to fly out of Canada to get the deal for the all-inclusive trip. Anyway, later we realized that maybe I could have flown out of Portland straight to Costa Rica but we had already booked it all so there was no changing it.

So, back to the story. On Feb 14th I got up at about 430 in the morning to pack the last of the stuff I needed to pack and get to the airport on time for my flight which was at 7am. Jasmine, my amazing friend and roommate, also got up at this ridiculous time with me so she could shuttle me to the airport because she is a sweety (also I think that she was excited to get rid of me so she could use my bed while I was gone). Got to the airport and through security in good time. I then flew to SLC, was there for about an hour, and then on to Calgary.

I arrived in Calgary at around 1pm (which was actually a little earlier than we were supposed to land, which is amazing since the last couple times I had flown I got stuck overnight in the wrong city). Luckily, my Mom likes to be early for things so she was already waiting at the airport for me. We then went to pick up a few things we needed - snacks and stuff of that important nature. Then we went to eat at Moxie's so we could kill time before we could check in to the hotel. After eating (mmm, fries with gravy!) we checked in and I realized there was an awesome bathtub in the hotel room that we were staying in. It was HUGE - so I took a bath.

And it was an awesome bath! But then I remembered that I had forgotten something. Something important enough that I couldn't just not have it. I needed a contact case (at least it was something cheap!). So Mom and I ventured out again to pick that up. Then we got back - watched TV for a bit and were just lazy for a bit, and then we went to bed pretty early. Luckily I was super tired so it was easy for me to go to bed early, and I think because of working nights my Mom has trained herself to be able to sleep anytime she wants.

It was a pretty good day all in all. It was good to see my Mom and be able to catch up and get each other excited about the upcoming trip. It was also good to start the trip like that. It was VERY cold in Calgary, so it was even more glorious to think about how great it was going to be when we were in the hot hot sun in Costa Rica! Tune in tomorrow to see how day one in Costa Rica was ;) (I will try to make it tomorrow ...)

Blog Plans

So, as most of you know, I was lucky enough to be on vacation from the 14th to the 23rd of February (thanks again Mom, it was a blast). I had a great time and I did a lot of really cool things, and I saw a lot of amazing things and I know that if I try to post it all in one sitting you are going to hate me, and I am going to get annoyed by it and not do the whole thing justice, and nobody wants either of those things to happen. So instead, I am going to do it day by day. So for the next 10 days or so you will slowly learn about how my trip went. Yeah, that means I get to drag it out longer too! I will post a whole schwack of pics on facebook in the next couple of days so you can see them, but I am going to post some here that I don't post on there and I am going to explain stuff with the ones here. I was planning to do it everyday for the next however many, but I don't want to have the pressure to blog EVERY DAY because I know work is going to be crazy again, but I will try really hard to do it almost everyday. And of course, if anything exciting happens in my life in between there I will make sure and post that in between as well (don't worry, I am just throwing that in as a disclaimer, nothing exciting will happen in my life because nothing ever does! lol)

I will post the first one later today sometime. They are all going to be titled 'Costa Rica: Day #' even though day 1 and day 10 don't involve CR at all. And also, if you guys have any questions about anything that I post or if you just have questions or comments in general, then feel free to ask! Looking forward to sharing my vacation with you!

February Things

I'm back for another post. And here you thought I wasn't going to post again for a year to make up for all the posts I had in January didn't you? It's okay to admit it, I was a bit worried too. Okay, I wasn't really worried, no year can be as bad as the first couple on this blog - '05 and '06 were not the years that I got turned into a blogger, that's for sure!

Anyway, I just wanted to come back and give you all a real life update since all the updates you have gotten for the last month had nothing to do with how things are going currently for me - although they were fun.

First I think I need to say that I am going to Costa Rica. I am not sure that I have mentioned this before, and I don't know how I forgot to, but I am soooo excited!  I am going with my Mom and my brother's girlfriend and her mom and it should be a blast. I am flying to Calgary on Feb 14 (good thing I don't have a honey to feel neglected haha) where I will meet my Mom, and then early in the morning on the 15th we are headed to Costa Rica! We are going to be there for a week and we come back to Calgary late late on the 22nd and then I come back here on the 23rd. I have been checking the weather there and it has been in the 30*C range since I have been checking it in December. Have I mentioned that I am excited. I have a mental packing list and I am still working on making sure I have everything, but it is coming together.

Of course the trip has been consuming my thoughts for a while now, but work has also been crazy. Of course it always is at this time of year for me and I was super lucky to get the time off to go on this trip. I just spend a lot of hours at work, and a lot of them are odd. Sometimes I get to stay until about 130 in the morning. Lucky me! But I can't complain too much, at least I have something exciting coming up to look forward to, which is more than I can say for my co-worker. She probably won't have a great time while I am gone, but I think she will live.

Other than that, life isn't too exciting. I think maybe I would have more things to say if my brain wasn't so over-taken by this trip (I am leaving in 10 days!) and I imagine that once I get home and do a big post about the trip, then I will actually have other things to talk about. I hope. If not then that is way boring for me. And for you. lol. Or it will turn into '06 all over again. Haha.

Anyway, I guess I have nothing else to talk about so I am going to go ahead and log off and go to bed. I will probably post again before I leave, but I can't promise that you won't get sick of hearing me talk about how excited I am to go somewhere warm ;)

*Oh PS I totally forgot to mention this, but the pic that is the background on here, I took that photo! It is in my hometown. I took it with my new camera. Isn't it pretty? :D
